What is the SOLERGY label?

The SOLERGY label is a label for solar thermal collectors originally developed by DIN CERTCO and SHI (Solar Heat initiative) in 2016. The design was created in the format of the ErP label, which serves to make it easier to read the energy consumption of many devices in the European Union. In this case, the aim was to have a similar label, giving information on the energy produced in the collectors themselves. In addition, the new label adds performance ratings from -A to AAA that show the energy production capacity for different regions or areas of the European Union.

What is the purpose of the SOLERGY label?

  • What the energy label offers

    The label can be seen as a tool to facilitate decision making in the selection of a solar thermal collector, ensuring that it meets the specific heating needs and effectively contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions.

  • Energy production class rating

    The energy production class of each element reflects how well the solar irradiation received by the panels is utilised. This rating, which evaluates the performance of the equipment, ranges from -A to AAA.

  • Distinctive prestige label

    Within the labelling systems of the European Union, solar thermal collectors do not carry any label. Manufacturers and suppliers of collectors with a high sense of responsibility initiated a voluntary labelling system in order to provide the users of the equipment (prescribers and end-users) with the data of the equipment.

Details reflected on the label of the aH72SK

The icons above the rating define the specific application for which the subsequent rating is given. In the case of the aH72SK, it indicates that the panel works to produce heat for low temperature heating (<50°C) and domestic hot water, as well as electricity.

European reference climate zones for determining the yields and efficiency of the panel in these zones, marked in three colours: blue, yellow and red, corresponding to Northern, Central and Southern Europe respectively.

Based on the three representative zones of Europe and the working conditions described on the label, the annual kWh production values that can be expected from the product are defined. The three values for each latitude are shown in two columns, in this case the left column refers to the annual kWh heat production for DHW and heating consumption up to 50°C. The right column refers to the electrical production. The right column refers to the electricity production.

Depending on the amount of energy generated in each zone, a rating is given based on letters and symbols ranging from -A to AAA. Thus, each zone has two ratings, one for heat under the aforementioned conditions and one for electricity.

For the aH72 SK, the following zone levels have been defined for THERMAL generation:

  • A++ STOCKHOLM (Northern Europe)
  • A+++ WÜRZBURG (Central Europe)
  • AA ATHENS (Southern Europe)

And the following zone levels in terms of ELECTRIC generation:

  • A STOCKHOLM (Northern Europe)
  • A WÜRZBURG (Central Europe)
  • A ATHENS (Southern Europe)

In the label we have given as an example, the level chosen is A+++ for thermal energy generation and A for electrical generation, which means that this panel will be installed in Central Europe.
